Is It Winter, somewhere??

When we moved from Baltimore to Houston, it was exciting to see that we were in an area where the Robins would migrate to, for the winter. Then when we moved north to the Dallas area, we discovered, we would see them as they were migrating. Not even robins want to stay and summer here. Heehee! Too hot. Well, for the last week, I have been seeing a large flock of birds in my neighborhood while walking in the early morning with my neighbors. Finally, today we were able to catch a good look at them and they are robins! Seems they think it is nice enough to winter here, for a while. They are in for a shock though, when at the end of the week, we are to get colder weather. But, it has been fun for us to have them visit our neck of the woods. :) We are having gorgeous weather. It has been below freezing in the morning, when we walk, but the temperatures have been rising to the 60's during the day. It hasn't been windy for several days either. This isn't our normal winter, but I'll take it. :)
Being a transplanted New Yorker, I miss parts of a real winter. I miss the snow and making snowmen. So, in the winter I decorate with snowmen. If you come to my home, you will see them out all through January. Some were made by friends and family and some were purchased. I am not picky. Well, the one on the right, in the picture above, is one that I knitted and then threw it in the washer to felt it. The hat, scarf and carrot were knitted too and felted. His arms are made from a stiff wire, with beads on them. It took me 2 years to make this guy, only because I was bogged down with the wire and beads(they weren't knitting). OH, yeah, and I moved(that didn't help). But, he is done and we are enjoying him in our front hallway.

It's winter up here! Right now it's in the 20s with colder air on the way. Love the snowman, mine are still ghosts. I met the designer--she also designed the bird's nest. Say hi to MiniD and JoJo. Oh, and tell Jeff Uncle Bob sends his regards...

We had winter last week in Alabama. We got a dusting of snow on Wednesday and then it snowed again on Saturday. It has been 7 years since we had enough snow to make a snow ball. Our snow man was more of a snow baby though.
